An immense nose of bramble, black cherry, chocolate, prunes and brandy, with an attractive whiff of toasty oak. The palate offers an array of sweet, ripe black fruits, dark chocolate, espresso, agnostura bitters, spice and cedar – all in all, a considerably serious, complex wine. The tannins are velvety and there is a touch of prominent alcohol to begin with, but after an hour or two this softens-out to reveal a layer of fresh, tangy, cherry skin acidity. It is full-bodied, long and opulent. Decant this wine and then leave it for a couple of hours for it to show its best. It is even better the next day, having become even fresher yet more complex – a sure sign of a wine that can age well. Brilliant stuff, and an absolute bargain. Back in stock, but very limited availability!

Blood red at the core, fading gently to a brick rim. Meaty, woody aromas, married to cherry and redcurrant, with a nice whiff of forest floor. A lovely core of sweet and sour red cherry and redcurrant fruit, with some savoury notes, some fine, grippy tannins still lurking in the background and an almost ethereal, searing lemon sherbert acidity, which is most unusual in a red wine - but it really works! A truly lovely wine - Chianti for Burgundy lovers, perhaps?

Ruby/purple, with a slight bricking rim. A nose of red and black cherries, plum, violet and cedar, with lightly toasted oak. The palate is earthy, yet elegant, with flavours of cherry and plum, vanilla and bitter chocolate. Softening tannins and healthy acidity make for a wine that is beginning to drink well, but will age beautifully for a few years yet.

Made from late harvested and partially dried Moscato (Muscat) grapes, this is a beautiful amber/gold colour, with a nose of tangerine, butterscotch, roses and allspice. These qualities all come through on the palate, which, although quite honeyed and rich, manages to retain a great deal of freshness. Sweet toffee and candied fruit flavours intermingle with orange marmalade and a hint of unmistakable Muscat grapiness, with a very healthy level of tangy, citrus acidity. Stylistically, this is like a cross between Sauternes, Jurancon and Tokaji. It is utterly delicious - and a bargain, to boot!
